As soon as I arrived in Sibenik I knew I was in the right spot.

It's a bit of a sleeper town. Most tourists bypass it on the way to other cities so this was a perfect place to visit and I liked so much I extended my stay.

So what makes it so good? Well there's a beautiful old town, it's coastal so it has a wonderful water promenade, it has beaches, forts, plenty of authentic restaurants and cafes, friendly locals and few tourists.

Another thing that makes it attractive is it's close proximity to nature parks and islands. Krka national park is awesome with many great walks on offer and spectacular waterfalls.

My days were spent, walking, sightseeing, swimming, eating and drinking. And it's really affordable. I had an excellent apartment for just $60 per night (self-spoiled) right in old town and enjoyed very tasty dishes like veal liver, traditional goulash and braised beef broth. None of these meals with a couple of beers were over $25.

Sibenik was easily my favourite place in Croatia.
