I didn't really know prior to going to Croatia that it's in the top ten holiday destinations for Europeans, in particular Western Europe and the U.K

When I arrived in Split I knew that it was a good place to start but I didn't need to stay long. It's a tourist hotspot! mainly because of a very busy airport, it's proximity to many popular islands and two main coastal towns of Zadar and Dubrovnik.

After checking into a pretty good airbnb about 5klm outside the city centre I set out to explore the old town, outer region and nature parks.

In my opinion, Croatia is a like a mix of Italy and Greece. The landscape looks like Greece and the urban areas look like Italy. It tastes like Greece and sounds like Italy. It's far smaller that I thought and is home to only 4 million people.
