Sydney is my new home.........for now.

When I first created this blog it was basically designed as a travel diary for friends and family in Australia.

After spending 14 months traveling I made many new friends in other countries so I figured just because I'm not overseas at the moment doesn't mean the blog posts need to stop.

I've been back in Australia for a bit over a month and the new journey is underway.

I've been housesitting and staying with my good friends Paddy and George (without their support I would be screwed) in Sydney. The area I'm living in is called Camperdown. It's a nice area, a bit concrete inspired but close to most things, has some nice nature areas and not to far from the CBD. A little drive or walk and we enjoy the various and wonderful parks and beaches that Sydney has to offer.

The first four weeks were spent walking and looking after Priscilla, the bulldog and Loki the cat as well as some housekeeping and continuing with my German lessons. I've also been applying for jobs and satisfying the needs of government agencies. Neither of those last two tasks are my favourite.

In the fifth week I took on some temp procurement work with Scentre Group which should last until the end of January. It's pretty easy money and given it's the festive season I don't have to go to work every single day and that's a good thing for someone who hasn't worked for so long. My office is in the Sydney CBD and as such I have to deal with the hustle and bustle of a very busy and crowded city.

As I walk around and get familiar with my surroundings I quickly realise the things I love and missed so much about home.

Putting family and friends aside, the smell of gum trees and jasmine, and the love the people have for the outdoors. The numerous birds flying around and singing, the plethora of sports grounds, recreational areas and parks. All are unmistakably Australian.

One thing I haven't missed is the traffic and being constantly rerouted. So many streets are one way or have no right or left turn and are no through roads or no entry. Maps.me can't handle it and neither can I.

In the quite times I can watch sport on tv because there's always something on or visit one of the many pubs in the area.

I've been doing some reminiscing and to be honest I miss the travel already and I'm working on what and how I'm going to take on the next expedition.

First though I need to raise some cash so I'll put my head down for a few months, try to save and start thinking where I'll go next, how I'll get there and what I'll do when I arrive.

As it's only a couple of days before Christmas, I hope you have a great one (if your into that sort of thing) and wish you all well for the new year.

Peace out.
