Halton then Sydney then...

Well all good things come to an end they say so in a few days I'll be boarding a plane to fly back home. Home being Sydney, initially anyway. Before I do, let me share the final blog post for this journey. So for the last three weeks I've been housesitting in a small town called Halton which is about an hour bus ride from Liverpool.

The house is a class 2 listed property from the 1600's and sits just below the remains of Halton castle. It's charming, old and quiet with low doorways. My head bares the scars. Our hosts are really nice and friendly people who have a place in Nerja (Spain) where they are having a small holiday.

Duties include looking after three geese and one cat with the usual housekeeping chores. Pretty easy and very relaxed.

The town and surrounding area isn't much to talk about. It feels like it's still in the 80's and the locals add to that. There are a few nice woodlands and green fields to walk through but generally it's not very attractive. So I've been doing a lot of nothing, watching sport on tv and planning my return.

The best excursion was a night out in Liverpool where we attended the Cavern for a show. For those who don't know, the Cavern is the venue where the Beatles started out. It's even smaller than I imagined but just as cool with great acoustics. Liverpool is, I guess, not too bad. A great water front area with many old and new buildings with a vast mix of architectural styles.

I'd like to tell you more but that's about it. So it's back to Australia with a bit of anxiety and excitement. I guess I'll have to wait and see what my return looks like as I have no real idea what I'm going to end up doing. And so one journey ends and another begins.
