Jaipur, India

They call Jaipur "the pink city'" because about 200 years ago a British prince visited the area and the locals welcomed him with something unique.

They laid the streets with pink flowers because pink is the colour of good luck and welcome. In the end the whole town got painted pink!

There's about 3.5 million people in the city along with horses, cows, elephants, goats, pigs, dogs, camels and monkeys. All of which can be seen everywhere.

My new mate, Nadeem showed me the best Jaipur had to offer.

Starting with the Amer Fort which is about 500 years old and sits high on a hill and looks impressive on the landscape.

The interior was equally impressive with a beautiful garden and mirror palace.

The Water Palace was built for the Maharajah to reside in during the summer to help escape the sweltering heat.

You can see some of the animals I mentioned before in the foreground of this photo.

The city temple is a quiet, peaceful and tranquil place to sit and relax.

And I did just that.

As I sat and pondered and looked around I could hear an orchestra playing. Beautiful songs from the birds in the trees, gentle temple bells in the distance and the sound of harmonic prayer chanting over my shoulder. This was special. I recorded some on video but I'm sorry I can't upload it.

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and seems to go on forever when you look at the city from a high vantage point.

I liked it. It's loud and crazy and busy and dirty and, well, it's India.
