DASH shelter days

So my time at the dog shelter is going great and heaps of fun.

I've picked my favourite or actually I think he picked me.

The other day when I was building the deck there was one dog who was particularly keen to rub up against me, get pats, nest in between my legs and rest on my lap. I didn't know it at the time but I later found out he was blind. And here I thought I was special. His name's Paris and he's really gentle, placid and soft and only wants contact and a warm comforting pat or rub. He came to the shelter with a huge trauma to the head about five weeks ago. He's doing pretty well now.

In the last few days I've cut the overgrown grass in the dog pens, fixed and inspected some plumbing and help control about 40 dogs at a local council shelter while they were photographed.

Working around the dogs when you're brushcutting is tricky but pails in comparison to avoiding the land mines.

Despite best efforts to remove dog shit from the area it's impossible to see all the spots due to the length of the grass.

So yeah I end up with crap on my clothes and in my face from time to time but it was critical that I kept my mouth closed. After a while tiredness set in and sure enough a few flying particles ended making their way in. All part of the fun 😜

The day at the the local council was great. It was heaps of fun handling all the different dogs particularly the puppies while the photos were taken. Most of them were pretty easy to control but there were a few that were a little more difficult. No wounds to speak of so that's cool.
