A great day in paradise

A few days a go I was privileged to be invited to lunch with what I call my new Greek family. The owners, staff and residents of the apartments which I am staying at.

We went to a restaurant in Alyki by the beach and ate heaps of excellent food such as whitebait, moussaka, red mullet, tempura zucchini chips, xorta (spinach like dish) and so in. We drank and we talked. It was so much fun.

Later we went to Pisso Livadi for coffee and to talk some more.

The day became night which turned into early morning. By this time we had drank plenty of Suma (the Greek version of Grapa), played card games, talked a plenty and nibbled on Meze.

It was was of the days I dreamed of before I left on my journey. Being with the locals, eating local food, drinking local beer and enjoying the company of beautiful people.

I doubt I will have an experience like this again on my travels but you never know.
