Αντίο Athens

I may have got a bit excited in my introductory post about Athens. So I'll keep this one in check. Athens is always busy. Except on Sunday's. NOTHING happens on Sunday's.
Despite the litter, overflowing garbage bins and delaperdated buildings it looks and smells great.
I see it like this. Walk down one street and your in Europe.
Turn a corner and your in Asia. Cross the road and your in somewhere I've never seen.

It's such a mixed place on so many levels.
Athens cares and it doesn't care. It gives you plenty and it gives you nothing.
Saganaki, souvlaki and kebabs. Is there anything else to eat? Yeah heaps, but these are great and all the locals ever chow down. Oh and these. Thrakapthonso. That's not how it's spelt!

Open bread filled with goodness. Very popular.
Greeks make awesome coffee but they rarely drink it in the traditional sense or hot. It's a frappe they go for. Coffee shot over crushed ice, mixed, then a generous serving of milk foam on top. Served in plastic and drank with a straw. They love em.
It's a place that needs to be visited. I will be back for sure.
