This site has a very strong smell of flour dough. I've no idea why.

To date this site hasn't been fully excavated. As so much of it has been destroyed it's hard to get a visual of what it may have looked like.

The only thing really still standing is a tower which contained a water clock...

The entry arch...

And some well preserved columns...

There's something that's been bugging me as I've been walking around these ancient sites. It's the way they show and preserve some of the remnants.

So in my head it's all important, some more than others, I get that.

But if they make the effort to claim and preserve these pieces why do they appear to treat them with a lack of respect? For example, here is a typical group of remnants that are on display and are getting covered by overgrown grass and weeds. I should also say these are in a prominent position on the site. Not stashed away out the back.

And then there's this example. In the middle of the site, a piece of floor is being presented. It's important enough to have some dodgy ropes around it but not enough to be kept neat and tidy.

Maybe I'm being too critical. I just find it weird.
