In 1900 a Spanish industrialist named Eusebi Guell aquired a plot of land and planned to develop it into an estate for well-off families.

Provision were made to build 60 properties on the site with complex pathways and gardens surrounding the area.

Guell commissioned Gaudi to design the park and at first the progress of the building work was great. Unfortunately due to conditions of resident acquisitions, lack of proper transport and the exclusive nature of the estate the project was deemed unviable. Work stopped in 1914.

It's now owned by the Barcelona City Council and open to the public to enjoy.

Only two properties were ever built on the site.

The UNESCO declared it a Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1984.

It's beautiful, unique and distinctively Guadi.
