Sevilla

Sevilla is about 5 hours drive from Madrid. It feels shorter because you can cruise at a pretty descent speed. Your GPS and road signs will assist with speed cameras.

I stayed in an area called la Macarena.

This place has some real old town character in abundance. There are a few areas where modernism has taken place but it's in keeping with the original charm.

The legend has it that Tapas was originally created here! And the original tapas bar named El Rhincollo does turn on a treat. I ate there more than once.

Again the streets and lane ways are tight and paved with cobbles stones. Most local cars have some form of damage due to scraping against bollards and tight entries.

The gypsy quarter named Triana is pretty but it's also a bit same same but different.

That said its a good gateway to some nice parks and sites of significance such as Plaza Espania and Parque Maria Luisa.

If I ever return to Saville I reckon I would choose to stay in Santa Cruz. This is where I saw an impressive and powerful flamenco show and ate and drank until close a few times. The atmosphere and sites are a little better and has more to offer.

One distinctive thing about Sevilla is the locals love their dogs. It would be fair to say that one in five people you see on the street are being lead by them.
